Terms of Service
Effective date: August 11, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of passgenerate.com (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
What the Service is
PassGenerate is a free tool that generates random passwords and passphrases locally in your browser, using the Web Crypto API. We also publish educational articles about password and digital-identity security. The Service does not require an account and does not process payments.
Using the Service
You may use PassGenerate for personal or professional password generation, free of charge. You agree not to:
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, or interfere with the Service (for example, automated scraping or denial-of-service attempts)
- Use the Service to generate credentials for unlawful purposes
- Misrepresent your use of, or affiliation with, PassGenerate
No warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. While PassGenerate uses a cryptographically secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues()) and follows current password-security guidance (such as NIST SP 800-63B), we do not guarantee that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times
- Any specific password meets the requirements of a particular website, system, or regulation
- Reliance on generated passwords or on the blog's educational content will prevent security incidents
You are responsible for how you store, use, and safeguard any password you generate, and for independently verifying any security-critical decision. The blog content on this site is for general educational purposes and is not professional security consulting.
Advertising
The Service is supported by advertising (Google AdSense). Ads are provided by third parties, and PassGenerate is not responsible for the content of third-party advertisements. See our Privacy Policy for how advertising data is handled.
Third-party links
Blog articles on this site may reference or link to third-party products, services, or research (for example, in comparison articles). We do not control and are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of third-party sites.
Intellectual property
The PassGenerate name, logo, and original written content (including blog articles) belong to PassGenerate unless otherwise noted. The underlying web standards and APIs the Service is built on (such as the Web Crypto API) are open standards and are not owned by PassGenerate.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, PassGenerate is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including damages resulting from compromised accounts, data loss, or reliance on generated passwords or published content. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of France, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, regardless of your country of residence β PassGenerate is operated from France, even though the Service is available in many languages worldwide.
If you are a consumer habitually residing in the European Union, this does not deprive you of the protection afforded by the mandatory consumer-protection provisions of your own country of residence, which remain unaffected by this clause (Article 6, Regulation (EC) No 593/2008 on the law applicable to contractual obligations, "Rome I").
This is a general clause and not a substitute for legal advice; if you operate this Service commercially, consider having these Terms reviewed by a qualified lawyer.
Changes to the Service or these Terms
We may modify or discontinue features of the Service, and may update these Terms, at any time. We'll update the effective date above when the Terms change. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the revised Terms.
